I guess I've done three things in my life that my employer felt were worth shelling out about $10,000 to protect. The first one, 5,136,187, was my favorite and the one I thought was really nifty. elicit the response it has. I’ve received about 80 e-mails from strangers asking if I’ve received a reply. The answer is, sadly, no. I expected the standard “thank you for your thoughtful comments and good luck in your new endeavor” but I received nothing. About 40% of the e-mails asked if IBM sent me a Rolex. Again, and sadly, the answer is no.
I can say that my decision to leave IBM after 27 years to the day was the best thing I’ve ever done. My new career at Lockheed Martin Systems Integration in Owego, NY is everything I dreamed and more. It’s as if I died and went to heaven.
